On some vehicles, the MIL may come on with DTC P0106 (MAP sensor malfunction) stored in memory due to corrosion of the MAP sensor chip. This produces a short circuit which causes the output characteristics of the MAP sensor to fall out of specification.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Replace the MAP sensor with a modified one.
3. Verify repair.
