2001 MP3 Protege & 2003 - 2003.5 MAZDASPEED Protege

DESCRIPTION

A clunk/knock noise can be heard from the rear suspension when driving over uneven road surface such as speed bumps.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicles repaired using the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify concern.

2. Replace the rear stabilizer bar bushings with a new one if excessive clearance is found. Refer to applicable Workshop Manual section 02-14 REAR STABILIZER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.

   NOTE:

   • The "E" level bushing can be identified by a Teflon sleeve that is molded to the body of the bushing.
   • Install bushings with the suspension system loaded and lube bushings prior to assembly with a silicone paste to prevent premature wear and/or squeaks.

3. Verify repair.
