1999 Protege - DOOR SEAMING WELT FALLS OUT OF POSITION

All 1999 Protege.

DESCRIPTION

During the vehicle manufacturing process, the seaming welt may lose its tension. This can result in it falling out-of-position after the door has been opened and closed a number of times.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.
2. Pull down seaming welt from the top edge of the door frame and increase tension by pinching the welt firmly with your fingers uniformly along area that came loose.

3. Re-install seaming welt.

NOTE: Replace the seaming welt only if it is deformed or damage as a result of it being out-of-position.

4. Verify the repair.

NOTE: This information applies to verified customer complaints on vehicles covered under normal warranty. Refer to the SRT microfiche for warranty term information. If more than one seaming welt is repaired, submit as a separate problem number with a location code.
