When removing the vehicles audio unit, an electrical short-circuit and/or damage to the radios printed circuit plate may occur if the following conditions are allowed:
Negative battery cable is not disconnected before radio removal.
Radio removing tools are inserted too far, entering the radio chassis, making contact with circuit plate.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Mark radio removing tools as specified in the illustration below.
3. Insert radio removing tools into access holes according to Workshop Manual (section 09-20 AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL).CAUTION: To avoid damage to the radios printed circuit plate, insert radio removing tools only as far as previously made marks 7/8 (22 mm) in STEP 2.
