09-009/01 1999-2001 Protege - WIND NOISE FROM WINDSHIELD MOLDING

All 1999-01 Proteges.

DESCRIPTION

Wind (whistling) noise could be heard from the windshield while driving at highway speeds. This is caused by air being pulled through the space between the top molding and the body.

Customers complaining of this concern should have their vehicle inspected and repaired according to the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

  1. Verify customer complaint.

    CAUTION: To prevent paint damage, apply a strip of tape along the upper edge of the windshield opening.

  2. Using a plastic or nylon putty knife, lift the top lip of the wind shield molding.

  3. Insert the foam protector strip into the gap between the molding and the body.

  4. Inspect the molding lip to make sure it has returned to it's original position, then remove tape.

  5. Verify repair.
