In the event the instrument cluster is replaced, this service tip provides information on copying odometer data from the old odometer to a new one using IDS/PDS updated to the latest software level. Data can be recorded to a new odometer unit, if the following conditions are met:
Data in the old unit can be retrieved by IDS/PDS
Odometer in the new instrument cluster is less than 63 mi (100 km)
New instrument cluster has no damage (ie: "----" is not displayed)
Instrument cluster voltage is over 9 volts.
NOTE:
A new or used instrument cluster with more that 63 mi (100 km) cannot be programmed with a different mileage.
There are two procedures below, one for vehicles equipped without Advanced Keyless system (Page 1) and one for vehicles with Advanced Keyless system (Page 4).
NOTE:
If IDS/PDS cannot retrieve configuration data from the old odometer, a screen will automatically appear that requires As-built data. However, configuration using the As-Built data cannot transfer old odometer data to a new odometer.
Before starting, make sure you have all customer ignition keys since they will need to be reprogrammed to start the vehicle. A minimum of two keys are required to start vehicle.
