09-037/04 2004 MAZDA3 - DRIVER DOOR LOCK INOPERATIVE / ROOM LIGHT STAYS ON

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS

2004 MAZDA3 with VINs lower than JM1BK **** 41 181046

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience any of the following concerns in the driver's door:

  1. Door lock automatically locks or unlocks

  2. The door cannot be opened by operating the door lock switch inside the vehicle or cannot be opened by operating the door lock using key or transmitter from the outside.

  3. The room light stays ON with the ignition switch in the OFF position or in the LOCK position.

This may be caused by water entry due to insufficient sealing between the door latch/lock actuator and the connector terminal. This causes electric current anomalies resulting in false passenger junction box (PJB) judgment.

The production process has been improved to prevent water entry into the terminal.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
