DESCRIPTION

A squeal or whine may be heard around the timing belt tensioner after cold starting. This is caused by a decrease in the clearance of the tensioner bearing when tightening the tensioner bolt. To prevent this condition, the bottom thickness of the tensioner has been increased from 5mm to 8mm to increase rigidity. The radial clearance of the tensioner bearing has also been increased.

REPAIR PROCEDURES

1. Verify the complaint.

2. If the squealing is heard, replace the tensioner pulley with a new part.
