0001204 Dealer Repair Information

1. The hold light may flash when moving the shift lever and will
sometimes stay on. Many or all of the trouble codes will be stored
in the memory of PCME.

2. All the above symptoms usually occur on vehicles that had snow
sitting inside the cowl vents (external fresh air vents).

Water droplets from snow inside the fresh air duct may drip down onto
and enter the PCME causing a short on the circuit board.

NOTE: To check for water damage, remove the cover (4 screws) from the
PCME and inspect the circuit board for signs of corrosion on any of the
elec trical components. If corrosion is visible, THEN replace the PCME
using
the procedure listed below. If corrosion is NOT VISIBLE, CONSIDER OTHER

AREAS TO LOOK AT BEFORE REPLACING THE PCME.
To protect the new PCME from being damaged again from water or
moisture, please perform the following modification:

1. Before installing the new (rebuilt) PCME, attach a water-proof, self-

adhesive pad protector (150mm x 80mm x 3mm) to the front edge of the
PCME, which faces the firewall. Be sure to position the pad, so it
covers the seams where water intrusion might occur.

Note:
Arrangements are being made with the remanufacturer to have the pad
installed before shipment. If you purchase a PCME, check to see whether
the pad protector is already attached.
