0001549 Dealer Repair Information
During extreme cold weather conditions (32 DEG. F / 0 DEG. C and below)
the 1995 MX-6 and '95 Protege (LX and ES) FMS radios in the affected VIN
range may fail to turn on or be very slow to turn on.
Confirm the cold weather failure outside (if possible) before bringing
the vehicle into a warm area.
Obtain a replacement FMS radio using the normal procedures and the FMS
audio exchange center.
When removing and replacing the radio follow the procedure in the BETM
Page J-28 ('95 MX6) or WSM Page T1-65 ('95 Protege).
Note: The wire harness to the radio must be warm to be pliable.
Otherwise the harness will be stiff and damage to the connectors during
the radio
removal will result. Use the car's heater to warm the harness if
necessary.
