0001880 Dealer Repair Information
You may encounter a vehicle where paint is discoloring at the A, B and C
pillar area (on both sides of the vehicle). The paint discoloration can
range in size from 1" X 1/2" to 3" X 1/2".
The joints (located at each bend of the weatherstrip) may be leaking a
type of ammonia that causes the vehicle's paint to discolor.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Repaint discolored area(s).
2. To avoid recurrence of discoloration, the joints (where the
weatherstrip bends) must first be neutralized. Using Isopropyl
Alcohol
(rubbing alcohol) on a rag, wipe down the weatherstrip's outer
surface
at each bend.
Note: Do not remove the weatherstrip
Only neutralize the joints of the weatherstrip
