1. Customer should be questioned on what foot they brake with. If
customer is a double footed driver (brakes with left and depresses
the accelerator with the right) they should be informed that this
type of
driving style may send conflicting signals to the PCM causing DTC to

occur.
2. Monitor the closed throttle position switch with the NGS tester.
PID.(CTP SW)

A. If signal doesn't change on the NGS tester when the throttle is
opened and closed, test the closed throttle position switch ( w/s
manual page F1-52 ), and/or check for an open or short in the
Silver/Black wire from the closed throttle position switch to
terminal 3L of the PCM.
Voltage signal should change from below 1V to B+ when throttle is
opened.

B. If signal changes and or driving style cannot be determined, using
a digital voltmeter, adjust the TPS voltage to exactly 0.8 volts.

NOTE: Do not use the NGS tester when doing the above adjustment, and
readings should not exceed 0.8 volts.

3. Ground the the TEN PIN and check the BASE IDLE N TIMING, adjust if
necessary
