MIL ON, DTC P0402 NO DRIVEABILITY CONCERN PRESENT

MIL may illuminate and store a DTC P0402 in PCM. This may be caused by a
partially restricted EGR passage in upper intake manifold (also known as
plenum/surge tank).                                                     
                                                                        
1. Remove the following:                                                
   * Miata: remove upper intake manifold (plenum/surge tank),and        
     throttle body.                                                     
   * Protege: remove throttle body and EGR valve.                       
2. Approximately 2" from throttle body flange mounting surface in       
   3'O Clock(Miata) 6'0 clock(Protege) position of upper intake is a    
   5/16" or 8mm EGR passage.                                            
3. Check passage for carbon build-up.                                   
4. Clean passage with suitable cleaner (ie. carburator or brake         
   cleaner). NOTE: This passage may not show excessive carbon build-up. 
   Be sure all carbon deposits are removed.                             
5. Reassemble in the reverse order.                                     
6. Verify repair.
