1.6L - MIL ILLUMINATION - DTC P1170

Applicable Models

Under certain driving conditions, some vehicles may experience the      
illumination of the MIL and store DTC P1170 in memory.                  
                                                                        
 1. Verify customer concern.                                            
 2. Perform "MODULE REPROGRAMMING" procedure. You must use WDS B17 to   
    (or later) and re-flash the PCM to the latest PCM calibration       
    P/N of 1ALF-12A650-FD (filename DXAHEQ0) for AT vehicles and        
    1ALF-12A650-GC (filename DXAHFR0) for MT vehicles.                  
                                                                        
Note: WDS will prompt you to remove fuses for the fuel pump and the     
cooling fans. IT IS NOT NECESSARY to remove any fuses for 2001 Protege  
We recommend that a battery charger be connected to the vehicle battery 
and turned "ON" to a charge rate of no more than 20 amps.MORE THAN      
20 AMPS MAY DAMAGE THE WDS PTU!                                         
                                                                        
 3. Verify repair.
