The following chart indicates which modules on the Mazda3 require (PMI)
Programmable Module Installation during replacement.
Additonal information is also included concerning issues with WDS soft-
ware and module programming.
Mazda3
Module name PMI required?
________________________________________________________________________
PCM YES
ABS/DSC YES
HEC (IC) YES
RKE NO
TPMS YES
TCM-N/A *N/A
RCM YES
EHPAS (Electronic Hydraulic Power Assist Steering) YES
EATC (Electrical Automatic Temperature System) NO
PJB (Passenger Junction Box) YES
* = a "stand alone" TCM module will not be adopted to the Mazda3.
The AT functions will be integrated into the PCM.

AS-BUILT DATA EXPLANATION
On the as-built data sheets supplied to you, this information
identifies which data pretains to which module on the vehicle:
Indentifier node Module
________________________________________________________________________
PCM1 through PCM9 PCM
(Note: For North American Mazda3 PCM as-built data, ONLY PCM1 - PCM 9 is
needed for proper as-built data entry. PCM10 - PCM13 is for a different
engine type and world market.)
720-01 HEC (IC)
726-01 PJB
730-01 through 730-05 EHPAS
751-01 through 751-08 TPMS
737-01 RCM
ABS/DCS - as-built data is only the VIN number for these modules on
Mazda3 vehicles. If the technician cannot "inhale" the old module's
data the WDS will request to the technician to enter as-built data
(VIN #).

* Module Configuration problem of PCM on MAZDA3 (with DSC equipped
models ONLY)
For MAZDA3 (Gasoline) with DSC equipped, we have to configure
the Body Type data in the PCM after performing the Programmable Module
Installation (PMI) of the PCM. In the case of the configuration with As
Built Data using the B26 and later WDS software, the configuration
of the PCM will not complete successfully. Although WDS screen indicate
"Configuration Complete", the DTC U2202 (Invalid Configuration Data re-
ceived) is stored in the DSC module.
If you do usual configuration PMI (without entering As-Built data),
problem will not occur.
In the case of the configuring PCM with entering As-Built data using
B26 and later WDS software, you need to use the following procedures.
1. Enter the As-Built data of PCM, and confirm the "Configuration
Complete" on the WDS screen.
2. Terminate the session.
3. Identify the vehicle again.
4. Select "Module Programming" > "Programmable Parameters" > "Tire Size
Axle Ratio." And enter the "Body Type" data. This completes the PCM
configuration.
* When communication with PCM cannot be performed.
Vehicle identification and the PCM diagnosis cannot be performed if
there's no communication with the PCM.
In case of manually select vehicle, Datalogger function on other modules
work without communicating with the PCM. But Selftest cannot be
performed on all modules.
Make sure to fix the communication problem with the PCM first.
* ABS / DSC DTCs cannot be cleared when entering from Selftest menus of
"Module - ABS" or "Chassis - Braking - Anti-Lock Braking System" on
MAZDA3.
ABS DTCs cannot be cleared when entering from Selftest menus of "Module
ABS" or "Chassis - Braking - Anti-Lock Braking System".
It is possible to ONLY retrieve ABS DTCs when entering from above menu.
You must use the selftest menu and "ALL CMDTC's" selection to clear ABS
DTC's.
This concern will be solved on B28 version.
* As-Built data input for PCM of MAZDA3.
When you receive an As-Built sheet for MAZDA3, it always has the data
for "PCM 1" through "PCM 13". However, when you do the configuration for
MAZDA3 LFD (2.0L) and L3V (2.3L) PCMs, you will not need the data for
"PCM 10" through "PCM 13". Please input only data that the WDS will
require and ignore the data for "PCM 10" through "PCM 13".
For ZJV (1.4L) and Z6V (1.6L) PCMs, you need to enter the whole data for
PCM 1" through "PCM 13" as WDS will require.
