TPMS-TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ON WHEN COLD

Applicable Models

Model Starting S/N Ending S/N
2004 MAZDA3 00000000 ZZZZZZZZ
2004 RX8 00000000 ZZZZZZZZ

Some customers may complain of the TPMS (tire pressure warning system)
lamp on for the first few miles (or minutes) driving when cold.
The warning lamp usually goes out after driving a few miles. This may
be caused by low air pressure when the tires are cold, or the tire
pressure inflated when the wheels / tires are hot- 29-30 PSI.

The TPMS light will illuminate when air pressure is:
* At or below 26 PSI
* At or above 51 PSI

Always inflate tires when they are cold. (If possible)
Tire pressure may drop several PSI when they cool down.

EXAMPLE- Tires that have 29-30 PSI hot may actually drop to 25-26 PSI
when cold, which may illuminate the TPMS light. The tire pressure will
increase after tires have been heated by driving, which should turn off
the TPMS light when pressure has risen above 26 PSI.

1. Adjust tire pressure to specification when cold, or compensate
hot by setting pressure +3-4 PSI above specification.

NOTE: Tire pressure guage readings are not always accurate. Actual tire
pressure N temperature data can be viewed by using WDS DATA LOGGER
-TPMS. Additional information can be seen in the TPMS service tips
service bulletin. Bulletin # 02-002/03
