Information
Symptom and Conditions
The instrument panel tightening bolts are removed or installed by
using a 14mm socket wrench through a service hole on the A-pillar.
Note that both left and right front doors need to be removed to gain
access to bolts. During this work, the bolts may fall inside the
A-pillar. Once inside, it is very difficult to take them out and if
the bolts are left there, an unusual noise may occur.
Removal/installation of the instrument panel tightening bolts 1. Use
piece of paper and roll into a cylindrical shape. 2. Insert paper
into service hole of A-pillar. 3. While pressing rolled paper
against wall, insert tool and remove bolt. The rolled paper will
catch bolt and prevent it from dropping inside A-pillar.
Handling of bolts that fall into the A-pillar. Use a powerful magnet
with flexible neck to remove bolt. Snap-On PT7B (or equivalent) is
recommended with magnet force of 1.5 kg/3.3 lbs and minimum neck
length of 355mm/13.9in.
