After pressing the SAT button on the radio head or during SAT
usage,the
words 'Updating'or 'Acquiring' appear on the radio display.
The meaning of 'Updating'and 'Acquiring'
----------------------------------------
Note: Aftermarket Siruis radios do not all operate this way.
1.UPDATING:
Can occur after engine is started and SAT button is pressed or SAT
was already powered. This is NOT a loss of the Sirius signal, but
it means that Sirius is updating their channel lineup. This loading
of the new lineup could take several miniutes depending on the
location of the vehicle and Sirius Satellite ground based repeaters.
Sirius updates their channel lineup several times a year.
Note 1: if the word 'Updating' appears on the display for more than
two minutes on a weekly basis, there may be a problem with the
radio head or DLP (black box - Down link Processor).
Note 2: Updating will occur after the battery cable/s have been
connected for the first time after kit installation. This
also can take several minutes to load the channel lineup in
the DLP's memory.
2.ACQUIRING:
Will appear on the display when the radio 'RF'signal is lost from
a break in the line of sight with the satellite feed. Signal loss
can happen when inside a garage or driving in a tunnel. Other
causes for loss of signal can be a problem with the ground based
repeater (not a problem with the radio or any SAT component).
Note 1: Upon initial power up (starting the engine), the word 'Acquiring
may be displayed for a brief period. This is a normal function
of the radio head software.
Note 2: If there is an actual problem with the SAT antenna, the words
'Antenna Failed'may appear in the radio head display. The
problem may be a break in the antenna wiring, a antenna that
has been disconnected, or an internal antenna problem. Check the
antenna wiring and connections, if okay, replace the antenna.
