Symptom and Conditions

When performing SSP69 audio unit reflash on a Mazda3, the radio must be
removed from the vehicle. The Mazda3 face plate is then removed and   
replaced with the supplied MX-5 face plate from the audio kit because 
the MX-5 face plate has the reflash ports located under the power and 
Audio Cont. knobs.                                                    
                                                                      
Because it was necessary to provide each dealer with an MX-5 faceplate,
some MX-5 faceplates may be for RH drive Japanese versions. These     
Japanese version face plates will have the power and Audio Cont. knobs
reversed from those shown in the SSP instructions.                    

Repair Procedure

1. If you receive a Japanese style MX-5 face plate, the flash procedure
   does not change. Attach the small audio unit flash cables to the    
   ports as shown in the SSP instructions.  
                           
 Note: If you get a 'COMMUNICATION ERROR,PUSH RESET' message, then switch
      cables J301 and J302, always remembering to install J302 first,  
      then J301 second.                                                
                                                                       
2. Continue to proceed with audio unit reflash.
