DTC: U2202 (Communication error to PCM) will be stored in the DSC
after performing Body Type Configuration.

Repair Procedure

Applicable Model: Mazda3 (BK) L3 Turbo with DSC
------------------------------------------------------------------------
You need to select Body Type after configuring a replaced PCM if the
vehicle is equipped with DSC. However, you may not be able to complete
the Body Type configuration if you select "L3-T Engine / MT / MPS
Suspension (xxx specification)". In this case, DTC: U2202 (Communication
error to PCM) will be stored in the DSC and the DSC warning lamp will be
turned on.

Countermeasure:

Update your M-MDS software with IDS48.7 or IDS49 (IDS49 will be released
on May 23 2007) and then configure Body Type. These newer versions do
not have such a problem.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Body Type configuration, "Programmable Parameters > Tire Size / Axle
Ratio", will be required when you enter As-Built data during PCM
configuration after replacing PCM on MAZDA3 equipped with DSC. This
change was reflected on software version B42 or newer because Body Type
Setting was added.

If it is difficult for you to determine the appropriate Body Type,
choose any Body Type on the list and configure it temporarily.
(Configuration data can be overwritten as many times as you need.) After
completing temporary configuration, make sure U2202 is not stored in
DSC. If so, end this operation. (U2202: Failure code for CAN line / DSC).
