1997 Protege LX and ES models with wheel covers
When the wheel caps are removed and installed for service, be sure to install the 14" wheel cover according to the steps below. Otherwise, they may not have enough tension and could fall off.
Position wire retaining ring within the plastic wheel cover tabs.
Line up valve stem indicator (on back of wheel cover) with the valve stem when installing the wheel cover.
Make sure that the wheel cover is tight and fits flush all the way around.
The configuration of the wheel cap tabs has been changed to prevent the wire retaining ring from coming out of position.
