DESCRIPTION

A clatter noise may be heard around the instrument panel while driving the vehicle. This is caused by a screw that holds the ABS circuit board in place. While driving, it is possible for the screw to work loose and roll around inside the ABS control unit case.

A new screw and lock washer replace the current design (washer-based screw). Customers complaining of this noise should have the screw retrieved and installed according to the instructions in this bulletin.

NOTE: The ABS operation is not affected by this concern.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify the complaint.
2. Remove the ABS control unit from the vehicle.
3. Open the control unit case by prying up the four (4) tabs.

CAUTION: TAKE CARE NOT TO DROP THE CONTROL UNIT, PERMENANT DAMAGE COULD RESULT.

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE PROVIDED TO PREVENT CIRCUIT DAMAGE. This damage could occur from static electricity. DO NOT SKIP THESE STEPS.

4. Open the upper portion of the case.
5. Locate the screw(s) that is causing the noise and confirm the location of the others (four (4) screws total).
6. Install the detached screw(s) into the original position.

Tightening Torque: 6 kgf-cm +/- 2
