A rattle noise may be heard from the door handle area while driving the vehicle. The cause of the noise may be loose retaining nuts for the door handle assembly. The door handle assembly may also feel loose.
The nutshave been modified to prevent this concern. If a customer complains of this noise, inspect the vehicle and repair according to the procedure below.
1. Verify the complaint.
If the noise is coming from the door handle, proceed to step 2.
If the noise is not coming from the door handle, refer to the NVH manual for troubleshooting instructions.
2. Inspect the nuts.
If only the nuts are loose, proceed to step 3.
If the nuts have fallen off, retrieve them from inside the door and re-use. Proceed to step 3.
3. Reinstall the door handle mounting nuts using nonpermanent Loctite on threads and tighten to specified torque.Tightening Torque: 4.2 - 6.2 Nm (0.43 - 0.63 kgfm, 3.1 - 4.6 ft-lbs)
CAUTION: Do Not Over Torque Nuts. This May Cause Them To Loosen Again.
4. Verify repair.
