The courtesy light lens (or hole cover)must be removed when removing the door trim panel. If removed or installed improperly, the retaining hooks will break.
Follow the procedures in this bulletin to avoid breaking the retaining hooks on removal or installation.
NOTE: Service Managers should place a copy of this bulletin in the appropriate area of the workshop manual. A similar problem may occur when removing door trim panel "hole covers" (vehicles without courtesy lights).
1. Insert the flat tip of a screwdriver into the service slot at the bottom of the lens (or hole cover). Refer to Figure 1 Fig. 1
2. Twist the screwdriver and remove.
1. Align the bottom hooks and service slot with the bottom of the opening. Refer to Figure 2. Fig. 2
NOTE: The bottom hooks are spaced wider than the top.
2. Gently press the upper portion of the lens into place.
